The first official trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” has reached the Web!
Granted, Internet pirates pretty much forced Sony’s hand, posting ripped videos of a bootlegged trailer online in close-to-decent quality. It’s unclear when the studio planned to release the trailer – probably during Comic-Con – but whatever. It’s out there. In HD. Enjoy!
Now, let’s talk about it. The movie has the feel of an indie drama, with Andrew Garfield stepping into the role of the orphaned Peter Parker. There’s a new emphasis on Peter’s parents, and what looks like an unnecessary rehash of his origin story (seriously, who the hell needs that?!) But the clip ends with an impressive POV shot of Spidey taking flight over Manhattan, and given Webb’s comments about how his 3D will put people in the action, that clip convinces me that he wasn’t lying.
