Swedish directing combo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein are in talks to helm “Underworld 4” with Kate Beckinsale reprising her role as vampire warrior Selene.
Screen Gems will release the film and Lakeshore Entertainment will produce.
“Underworld 4” is set to shoot in Vancouver in March. John Hlavin wrote the script with revisions by J. Michael Straczynski.
Marlind and Stein recently directed the U.K. thriller “Shelter” which stars Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The film has yet to unspool in the U.S.
A number of Swedish films have been invading the box office in recent years, i.e. “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “Snabba cash” and “Let the Right One In.” In many cases, English-remakes of such fare have been fast tracked into production, i.e. Fincher will deliver the U.S. take on “Dragon Tattoo” next Christmas and vampire teen drama “Let Me In” recently made $12 million at the B.O.
